Me too. Thanks. Nope, not keeping count with the current imbroglio, since I
asked a bunch of questions in the middle of it and therefore plead guilty to
-- well, not to tossing gasoline on the fire, I hope, but to dragging
flammable objects near enough for other people to light them up, I guess. I
never wanted to see discussions of commerce cease altogether here. They only
bother me when they overwhelm other functions of the list.

I picked on you in part because of an accident of timing. Unfortunately, I
happened to ask a research question just as your game show started. (I asked
whether anyone knows who played the clarinet solos on the soundtrack of the
1947 MGM movie, "Song of the Thin Man." Later, I tried asking whether anyone
knows who played first clarinet in the MGM studio orchestra from 1945-47,
since that person probably played the solos. It's possible that the answer
has passed from living memory, since I haven't been able to get a response
from MGM or other sources, either, but when nobody on the list even
speculated, it seemed to me that my question probably got buried under the
game show snowball. That bugged me, since I'm up against a publisher's
deadline that's generous but not infinite.) I've trained myself not to write
undocumented assertions, but actually *counting* the game show messages does
seem a bit wacko, on second thought...! Sorry if I overreacted.

But 12 cats?!! The most I've ever lived with at once was four. We hardly
had time to bury the last of the elder cats (who died at age 19) when Shadow
exercised her prerogative as newly-ascended Senior Cat to make a new rule:
"Thou shalt have no other cats before me."

(rhymes with "necrophilia" but not with "Leila")
