Yes, but you can take a used Lexus to any authorized dealer and buy a
warranty. One needn't have privity to a prior contract, etc or be the
original purchaser.

While, I have no ax to grind here, its evident & crystal clear that this
"covered & not covered" is for the stake of controlling a product and its
market. There is **no higher meaning**, e.g. it ain't gonna bring any of us
closer to our god or heaven !

What about that poor authorized Dealer or is at or near bankruptcy --- and a
manufacturer like Boosey & Hawkes won't take/credit the (recently shipped &
received) instruments back against the Dealer's Floor Plan account ( read:
Dealer line of credit), except at "fire sale" (bankruptcy) pricing. **That
particular dealer** is the one who then sells for a discounted price to an
UNauthorized dealer or reseller (albeit for way more than the manufacturer
offered to credit back against the Floor Plan).

Then, Consumer walks in and sees what he believes is the "Real McCoy"
complete with warranty paperwork at the Unauthorized dealer's shop and all
of a sudden has a problem.

The instrument was the instrument was the instrument. The problem was the
problem was the problem. A defect is a defect is a defect. The manufacturers
are saying they have ZERO 3rd Party Liability, while the entire rest of the
world does !

NOT.

> The warranty offered by Buffet is pretty much industry standard for just
about all consumer items I know of. If you buy consumer electronics,
cameras, computers, etc. from other than an authorized dealer there is no
warranty coverage (they'll state "original owner" and "authorized dealer").
Used equipment is seldom covered by warranty unless a provision is made for
transfer of the warranty. That provision may include both the
re-registration and payment of a fee.

only covered by warranty while I resided in Japan. My Seilo watch purchased
in Japan had the exact same type of warranty - when it stopped working here
in the US, while still covered by a warranty, I had to pay for the repair.
