Dear Klarinetters:
I'm new to the list, been lurking about 3 weeks. I'm new to the
clarinet as well, been playing about 3 months.
For now, the discussion is mostly Greek to me but I wanted you
all to know I find the conversation fascinating and most likely
helpful when I know more what you're all talking about!
Thanks for the links and references. I've been on lists on
topics from rhodesian ridgebacks to New York restaurants and
this one has the best balance and tone of any I've seen.
I especially enjoyed the recent thread on "star" players. I came
to the clarinet by way of the recorder and have no idea who the
greats are -- beyond the big bands and oh yes I've heard of
Stoltzman -- so I'd appreciate suggestions for say the top
three-five recordings as an introduction to the classical
repertoire. (I should mention that my dad already gave me "Peter
and the Wolf." ; )
I'm a rank amateur and also new to an appreciation of classical
music.
Be gentle with me!
Thanks,
Lynn aka Olivedog
