FWIW, I think there are circumstances where a click barrel might
be useful, but there aren't many instances where I'd consent to play
one.

I recently set one of the clarinet players in one of the
community bands I'm in with one of those - she was playing horribly
flat, knew that she was flat, but didn't know how to fix the problem.
She was frustrated enough that she needed immediate positive
feedback. I found a Fobes Debut mouthpiece and a bunch of different
reeds in addition to the barrel for her. The combination of
everything made a huge difference for her. She thinks the
improvement is the barrel, I think the difference is primarily the
mouthpiece & reeds (although her entire set-up was terrible
- basically, I'd be hard pressed to imagine a worse match
between set-up and person).

I tried the click barrel on my Buffet - it was nasty. Hard to
blow (and I like resistance!), thin sounding, and it didn't fit
terribly well. It works for her though.
