I just tried a Selmer SA80 Series III tenor today. Sweet horn, though very
expensive. It is so smooth it does not sound like it is made of metal!
Can play very prettily soft in the upper octave, yet has guts at the bottom
end. They've made some interesting mechanical improvements to the left
hand table keys. The Bb key actually moves closer to the B and C# as it
tilts. And the heights of the right hand Bb and C keys have screw
adjustments. I have not played a Mark VII for comparison, though. As I
understand it, the Series III is NOT a replacement for the Series II, but
another model. Maybe it will be like having the Mark VI and Mark VII out
simultaneously - YOU chose the sound you want!

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
