Maybe in medicine it would be true - even because the generic one is the =
same of the another.
Speaking about reed knifes I don't believe that any other knife could =
work so well as one reed knife.
Would you play on a plastic clarinet so well as on wood one? For me is =
the same. You can work with an ordinary(in that case, "generic") knife, =
but working with a good reed knife you will have a billions of benefits. =
And is a just one time investment!!!!
In music you have to choose the best material to work with.
That is "real" for me

Absolutely true. And if having a "real reed knife" is that =
important, then
certainly that's the direction to follow. It unnecessary, from my =
pov.
Similarly, when I take my cholesterol medication, I can take "the =
real
thing", Lopid, or I can take the generic, gemfibrofil. The later =
costs
about 75% less than the trade name and accomplishes the exact same =
function.
That's "real" enough for me. <g>
