Subj: [kl] Shostakovich Opera, chocked full of clarinet

For all of those in the NYC area who want to hear a lot of cool clarinet
parts, come see "Lady Macbeth of Mtzensk" at the Met (five performances
left www.metopera.org). For those of you who want to listen on the radio,
the national broadcast of it is next saturday 130pm EST, on your local
classical station. This is a great opera, and was the piece chiefly
responsible for getting Shostakovich in hot water with Stalin. There is so
much all four of us to play, that hardly a minute goes by without the
clarinets being heard. I hope you all like it. I'll be playing Eb.
