Since ice cubes tend to be very cold to the hand doing
the painting, and cloths holding them aren't very
satisfactory, you might want to go to your local drug
store (Walgreen's, Eckert's, CVS, or whatever) and
look for the little plastic sets of popsicle makers.
They make a very long ice "cube" and you can even
freeze a stick in them to hold them when you're
painting.

I am, after all, the voice of experience, having used
them for the various injuries (and subsequent
surgeries) caused by an ice skating mishap--yes,
including a carpal tunnel release.
