The Sound Blaster Live card that is in the X Gamer, MP3 or Platinum vesions
is the same card; only the extra software is different. In addition, the
Platinum edition has a module that fits into a 51/4" bay with additional
controls.

No really, they of course are still being made, but they have several
different versions, and names. The SoundBlaster Live card has several
versions now like a gamers edition, an MP3 edition, etc. Same card with
various features. The #1 card on the entire market is not about to end. It
isn't a pro card, but for a regular user, they are great. The midi is very
good. Most soundcards have terrible midi sounds. And the guys selling the
systems typically don't even know how to test them - they would just assume
play a CD to test the soundcard's sound.
