I tuned into NY's WQXR this morning while on the web, and they played
the last movement of the Dvorak piece for winds (and two strings if I
remember correctly). Is that the Op. 44 or have I forgotten something? =
The group was the unconducted wind section of the Orpheus Chamber
players. It was simply a magnificient performance which reinforces the
view that when you have great players, you don't need much else.
Such a marvellous piece. And such a sensational performance. It has
made my day.

Spot on as usual, Dan - Opus 44, Serenade in D minor, 2 ob, 2 cl, 3 hn, =

bn, vc db. As you say, a most satisfying work.
I enjoy large unaccompanied chamber works, as it forces everyone to liste=
n!
