As far as I can tell the external lengths of my old B40 and the B40 - 13 are
the same but there is clearly an internal difference as the length of the
window (slot) is approximately 30.5 mm on the B40 but 32 mm on the B40 -
13. I do not have the equipment to measure other dimensions with any
accuracy.

In a Buffet catalogue that I acquired about five years ago, there are three
Bb/A RC models with 17 keys and 6 rings listed at different pitches:-

Models 1111/1211 at A440 . Barrel lengths are 66mm and 65mm
Models 1112/1212 at A444. Barrel lengths are 64.5mm and 64mm
Models 1113/1213 at A442. Barrel lengths are 65mm and 64.5mm

The same catalogue only lists the R13 (models 1131/1231) at A440.

If your information is that all the RC models are basically designed for
A442 , does this mean that the pitch changes for other models is purely due
to the barrel length or are there other changes as well? I would have
thought that using the barrel alone would give large intonation differences
between the top and the bottom of the registers.

Hi Andrew, I am not an expert in it but I would like to exchange ideas with
you.
The main diference betwen the 13 series and the standard series is the
lenght of the mouthpieces - I say that because I know that the same machine
is used to make both(I mean the same bore, tip, etc.)
You said you own a pair of RC clarinets. I have the information that RC are
tuned to be played with A@-----. I never saw in any Buffet
clarinet's body somethink saying that it is 442 or 440, I just have the
information the RC@-----.
The new models of Selmer have in its lower joint a A@-----. My
own horn have it. But, in Brazil, we play A=442 and I had some pich problems
with it. So, I ordered a small barrel and now it works perfectly with
A@-----.
I felt the the throat tone became a litle sharp, but I preffer it sharp then
flat!
