You're competing in the "Young Artist Competition", open to those up to the
age of 27, so you're competing with people in and out of college, people who
are _almost_ professionals ("The Competition is open to all clarinetists who
shall not have reached the age of 27 years by January 1, 2001, provided that
they are not currently under major artist management. ")

Then there's the other statement:
"Please be aware that the quality of the recording will influence the
judges. "

That _does_ mean overall quality of the sound _and_ accompaniment. Remember
the level you're competing at - the pieces selected for this competition are
pretty tough.
