Believe it or not, there is always an exception. I went to college with a trombone player that invented a better
rotor/thumb thing for an F attachment. He also tinkered with motorcycles and went into instrument repair! Maybe he
should have played the clarinet?? :)

This discussion has been interesting. I'm a tinkerer, too. My students think I'm crazy. I have plans for a "finger
fence", someone beat me to the crutch (Koiman, or something similar, thumb rest)....I like to invent my own toys!
