I should perhaps make it clear that the statement, "I find that
mouthpiece X, with such-and-such dimensions and facing, is the best for
me," is an objective statement. It might even be the most useful sort
of objective statement on this topic.

"Mouthpiece X is the best," is rather, an incomplete statement.

It could *logically* be completed by a characterisation of what 'best'
means in objective terms, by analogy with the concept of length in the
statement, "a standard A clarinet is longer than a standard Bb clarinet
built to A=440", but I think most of us would agree that that's
impossible in actual fact.
