Whew! I am glad you were not insulted. Usually those stock mouthpiece are
not good. You are definitely right, a Bb player can't just pick up an E-fer
and expect to play right away. They had better spend a great amount of time
in front of a tuner and get things voiced the way they should be. By the
way, if you get the opportunity to play the Copeland 3rd, (the one Fanfare
for the Common Man was taken from) the Eb part is good. (You may have
already played it, I don't know your present position or your history- don't
be insulted [smiling]) I think it is harder than the Bb parts. I read
somewhere that Stanley Drucker started out as the E-Flat player for the New
York Phil. before he got the principal spot. So long,
