There is a possibility that I may be asked to conduct some performances of
"The Sound of Music" next fall. My own familiarity with the music comes
only from the movie and from the "Highlights from ... " concert band
arrangement. Can anyone give me some information, thoughts and opinions
(either on the list or privately) about the show's level of difficulty, size
of orchestra, importance of strings vs. winds, etc.? (We seem to have
difficulty recruiting string players in this area, but we can generally get
an "all brass & woodwind + piano & drums" pit band together.)

I'll appreciate any information or advice!

Thanks,

Jim O'Briant
