Well, maybe it is indeed possible to communicate with some limited degree of
effectiveness. Not five minutes after sending my previous note on the
subject, I received the following from my brother. He's never been
comfortable at a keyboard, and it shows.

It may help you decipher it if you know that "John" is my younger brother
(who collects antique radios and buys many of them at auctions), "Jac" is
his daughter Jacquelyn, age 14, "Jer" is his son Jeremy, age 17, and Pam is
his wife.

Here's John's note, exactly as he sent it. It's a perfect example of what
happens when one's individualism overshadows proper use of language.

==========================================

snows all gone, raining like hell, jac's window leaks like a sieve, only 40
ft. up in the air, work sucks, got big wedding shower, or is it a baby
shower, they both apply, gona be here mon nite, im dissappearing, pam says
40-45 people, girl at work was selling her car, 95 olds acheva, jers gona
sell the honda and buy this one, nice car, chick magnet, been working most
sats, good money, gota pay my taxes and the auction season is upon us, jacs
baby sitting tonite, she got 35 bucks last nite and was on cloud 9 1/2, pams
at talent show doing a skit, see ya, john

His e-mails are always fun to read, and sometimes a challenge to decipher.
But boy, am I glad that most people DO use English properly.....
