The absorbancy of silk varies by how it is processed and finished.
Silk fabric can be very absorbant and very quick to dry.
Raw silk and some dyes and finishes make a stiff, waxy surface. Some
silk is washable, some not.

What do i know about silk? I like its characteristics and buy clothes
whenever i can. In cold it retains warmth, and in heat
breathes--opposite of polyester that in other ways resembles silk. It
drapes and moves very freely (unless waxy) and dries very quickly.

So, whether silk would make a good swab, like a lot of other things....
it depends!

natural fiber-ly yours,
annhall
