I have recently become very interested in barrels and their interior configurations. I believe we (The LIST we) discussed a week or so back about how the mouthpiece alone is only half the solution when it comes to a "focused" and resonant tone quality.

Also intonantion is affected more than we ever wanted to know.....usually adversely.....by the interior dimensions of a barrel.

Well, I got curious the other day, and in my now infamous trip to the music store, I saw and purchased a Eddie Daniels Accubore barrel. The "Moennig" style with the tapered conical bore.

OK, I was skeptical, but hey, I can always sell it to SOMEONE on ebay, right?

Well, guess what? I LIKE it...even the heaviness of the aluminum.....It seems to me that the taper of the barrel focuses the tone, and the high weight content and softness of the metal, made it a perfect "sink" for absorbing the unwanted vibrations.

Question: has anyone else out there purchased one of these things, and if so, what do you think of it????

Walter
