Good point. When I travel, I usually take recorder
studies with me to practice on the clarinet. If the
range goes above A above the staff, I drop it down an
octave. This keeps my embouchure in shape and
provides a little sightreading practice, and since I'm
playing softly, I can concentrate on intonation,
breath control, etc.
