Christina,

There is a fine clarinet player here just out of college, who can play
the most incredible soft, clear sound the range of the instrument. When
i commented on that skill, he explained that he often had to practice
late at night when the rest of his family was asleep. No one a room away
with a closed door would be disturbed--the sound would not carry. He
gets a lot of practicing done in slow rehearsals this way.
