Available --September, 2000
PRINCIPAL FLUTE

The Great Falls Symphony Association is currently accepting applications
for
a principal flute position for the 2000-2001 season. The successful
musician will have the opportunity to perform locally and throughout the
state as a member of the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra and its resident
ensemble, the Chinook Winds, plus maintain a private teaching studio. The
orchestra and quintet rehearsals are in the evening. The successful
candidate may pursue other part-time employment in the community during
regular working hours .

THREE MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES

SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
All rehearsals of the Great Falls Symphony. (Orchestra rehearses
weekly)
Perform a minimum of six orchestral concerts annually.

CHINOOK WINDS WOODWIND QUINTET
All rehearsals of the Chinook Winds Woodwind Quintet. (Average of three
hours weekly)
Additional per-service opportunities - commission from Chinook Winds
bookings in the range of $1000 per year.
Two performances on a six concert chamber series.
School programs and other private and public performances.
Tours which are scheduled by the Great Falls Symphony Ensembles Manager.

PRIVATE TEACHING OPPORTUNITY
Limitless opportunity to establish a private teaching studio. Individual
determines fees and receives all income from private instruction.
Studios have ranged from 25 - 40 students per week.

QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree in performance preferred.
Professional level orchestral and chamber music experience desired.
Private teaching background experience helpful.

AUDITIONS
Final candidates will be asked to play a live audition in Great Falls.

COMPENSATION
The orchestra is comprised of volunteers. There is no remuneration for
orchestral rehearsals or performances.
Remuneration for Chinook Winds rehearsals (about 40 from September
through
May) is $2000.
Commissions from per-service Chinook Winds bookings average $1000 each
year.
Appearances by the quintet are paid per service and are in addition to
the
amount paid for rehearsals.
This is an independent contractor position, with no benefits.

Additional income can be derived from:
*Private Studio.
.adjunct musician with other Montana orchestras.
.instrument repair for a qualified person.

APPLICATION
Send a letter of application, a full resume, and a letter of support from
teacher/professor or conductor.

Persons who apply from outside Montana should send an audio cassette with
a
solo of your choice and excerpts from the following:
Mendelssohn -Scherzo - MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
Debussy - PRELUDE a l'APRES MIDI D'UN FAUNE
Dvorak - Finale - SYMPHONY NO. 8 IN G MAJOR

Live auditions will be held in Great Falls in April 2000.
