Thanks to Jim O'Briant and Oliver Seely for their good suggestions on
tracking down sheet music for Bernard Herrmann's clarinet solo, "Sleigh
Ride," from his score to the movie, "The Devil and Daniel Webster."
Unfortunately, nobody has published the solo commercially. I don't plan to
ask the UC library to microfilm the section of the movie score for me,
because the cost would be too high for recreational use of a clarinet solo of
only 1:51, especially considering that I would have to get permission to
transcribe the orchestra part for piano accompaniment in order to make my own
arrangement. That's the type of project that could sit and rot for six years
before I got around to deciding I'm not really going to follow through on it!
Better to bury it right now.... I appreciate the information, though.
