Everyone has to come across the work to which you are referring for the
first time in their lives. I envy you the experience of your first
reading of this work. If you do not go crazy with joy for finally
having been made aware of this piece of music, then you will disappoint
me.
The work to which you are referring is one of the most sublime treasures
of humankind, and is certainly the key center of the great repertoire of
works which employ a human voice and a musical instrument. The name
(translated from the German) is "The Shepherd on the Rock" and the
clarinet is the shepherd. There are many works for soprano and
clarinet, but this one is the very top of the pile.
