Just taking a minute to throw down the old hockey gloves here.

The Evette Schaefer is not a Master Model. The ES started out as an ES,
was then named the Concerto and is currently called E13. I believe I have
seen one with the name Master Model, but this was an anomaly.
The Master Model was introduced at the time of Boosey's take over of
Buffet. Its longest term designation was E12 and was distinguishable from
the similarly keyed E11 because it was made France and its finish was less
opaquely black than the German made E11. I guess it is plausible that an
E12 could be an R13 reject. I have never taken my calipers to one to find
out. I know the keywork is vastly different and inferior to an R13. It
currently has plastic tone hole inserts for the ring keys, which would make
turning of the wood easier and less wasteful initially, something never
found on an R or E13. I've never played one that had the acoustic warmth,
depth or power of an R13, but then I didn't measure them either. Next time
one walks in here I will.
I wasn't talking about Master Models in the first place.

When Mr. Kloc was in Edmonton he saw [by the look on his face] [it was a
mix of recoil and fury] his first ES/Bay conversion. At the time we
discussed the plating issue briefly. He was excited by the recent crop of
Buffet oboes. I think were he to ask around the Buffet factory he would
qualify his response to your query.

Every one should know better.
