I should have been clearer on this. What I meant is that one cannot expect
them to be the same in areas such as performance, etc. Naturally one must
weigh the trade offs as to whether it is worth the price difference like any
other purchase. The evaluation might look like this.

1. Will I (as a particular individual) be able to tell and benefit from the
differences?
1. Do I need the better performance?
2. Can I afford the better performance?
3. If I can afford it but don't need it, do I want it badly enough to
sacrifice something else for it?

After all very few of us can afford the top of the line products for
everything we purchase. Instead we look at what it is going to cost to get
the performance/quality we need not the performance/quality we want. Very
few of us drive Porsches, Mercedes, Rolls, Lambourghinis, etc. Instead we
buy mid-line cars and find them quite satisfactory for the purpose for which
they are needed.
