Just some concert announcements for those who may be interested.

This Saturday evening, at 8pm, MST, and Sunday at 3pm MST, the Las Cruces
Symphony Orchestra will perform its first concert of the new year with
guest soloist Alan Vizzuti on trumpet and Dr. Lonnie Klein conducting.
The repertiore for the concert is:

Rising Sun - Vizzuti
Andante and Allegro - Vizzuti
An American in Paris - Gershwin
(features Dr. Laroy Borchert, clarinet, and myself, bass clarinet)
Appalacian Spring - Copland (13 inst.)
(features Dr. Laroy Borchert, clarinet)

Also, on Tuesday, the NMSU Symphonic Winds will have their first public
concert, at 8pm MST. Dr. Ken Van Winkle will be conducting, with guest
conductor Richard "I Like To Make Kids Cry" Castiglion. The repertiore
is:

Divertimento, Mvts. 4 and 6 - Persechetti (cond. Castiglion)
Early Light - Carolyn Brymer
The Immovable Do (Doh!) - Grainger
Chester Overture - Schuman (cond. Castiglion)
Chester Leaps Out - Steven Bryant
(We refer to this as Chester Drops Acid and is All Fouled Up)
Yiddish Dances - Adam Gorb
Spartacus - Jan van der Roost

I will be playing bass clarinet for this concert as well, and fellow list
subscribers Steve Moore, Josh Coleman, Tahna Britton, and Carl Ortega will
be playing clarinet.

All concerts will take place at the NMSU Music Center Recital Hall,
located on the bottom end of Horseshoe Dr. and Espina, just off of
University Avenue, in Las Cruces, NM.
