I don't see why not - all of us at NMSU have been doing it for years. And
we all sit on the front row. Usually we do it often enough that blowing
water out of tone holes isn't necessary. Swabbing is much quieter, and so
we tend to do it often enough to avoid the obtrusiveness of spraying water
everywhere while making noise during the chime solo...
