Let's see....what do I have in my toy box? I have many different brands of
clarinets (that I have acquired over the years). Instead of selling off my
instruments as I bought new equipment, I kept things. For instance, I have
two old metal clarinets that I picked up at flea markets and fixed so that I
could see how they were different from what my teachers insisted were the
instruments of choice at the time I was studying with them. I have my
original Bundy that I acquired from my brother when I was twelve and some
Vitos and Jupiter clarinets for my beginning students to try before they buy
or rent. I have a nice Evette and Schaeffer from the mid 60's, a pair of
Selmer 10G's, an assortment of harmony clarinets in different brands,
flutes, saxes, oboes (all in assorted brands from student to professional
models), numerous mouthpieces for the different instruments, assorted brands
and styles of reeds, ligatures, reed-making supplies, etc. Most of this
stuff I have found hidden away in pawn shops and flea markets or in estate
sales. I spent a minimum to buy it and have fixed most of it myself. My
students love it.
