yes, cheap DAT machines have a crappy transport, but at least a DAT tape
will not lose all of its data when the table of contents gets corrupted
while "editing." (The larger, non-Sony units have great transports that are
pretty much bullet-proof) As I have explained on this list before, the way
I see MD is that it is a good replacement for the cassette. However,
beware, it is NOT a professional recording medium for some very good
reasons. You can get a decent MD plus microphone for about what a Sony Pro
Walkman plus mic would cost.
