David,
I've had my MiniDisc recorder for about 1 1/2 years and love it. I've
done some quick audition recording and dubbing down to cassette and it's
been great to work with. It is less expensive than a DAT unit and it is
less likely to break since there isn't a tape drive mechanism. It's much
better quality than a cassette recorder. DAT will give you better sound
reproduction no question. Also it's editing capabilities are great if you
don't do computer sound editing or don't have that equipment. It also is
very easy to record live concerts. I use a $100 Sony stereo mike and that
works for me. As you can tell I am a big MD fan.
