Count me also as a left-hander.

About the eyes rattling, it happens even on bass clarinet, but especially on
contrabass. I notice it immediately when I look at a tv or computer monitor
while playing - the screen starts oscillating, but everything else looks
fine.

As for why it doesn't happen with tuba players, I guess it's because we put
our teeth on the mouthpiece, and that must transfer the vibrations to our
skulls.

I too am a southpaw and proud of it. As for huge, tubas and contrabass
clarinets are neck and neck. However I never met a tuba player whose
playing made his or her eyes rattle. I HAVE heard of contrabass players
having this happen!
