Check the Klarinet archives. Given the subject, that will take you about 6
months, after which you will have the answer to the question, "Is wood
better than plastic?" Unfortunately, the answer is "maybe." All things
being equal, wood is better, but all things are never equal.

Again, the answer seems to be "maybe." I use them, but I only put them in
AFTER I swab. By design, they are SUPPOSED TO stay inside the clarinet
while in the case. You can definitely wash them. Warm water and dish soap
work well.

For a wood clarinet, bore oil would be good (though unnecessary), but only
if you remove all the keys first, so you don't get any on the pads. Not a
chore for the timid or non-mechanically inclined. For plastic, don't use
anything but a dry cloth!

and may not reflect the opinions of the general membership. They should
serve, however, as a suitable starting point for the discussion.
