Subj: [kl] "Goomie Ligature"

I have been experimenting with different material for ligatures. The
best that I have come up with is a ring of rubber that is used for
washers in plastie pipes. I go to the hardware store with my mouthpiece
collection, Vandoren B45, Selmer HS**, then with the Vandoren B44 for
the Eb sopranio and lastly with the whatever for the Eb Alto. I then
proceed to annoy all the salespeople and customers in the store with the
resultant squacking as I test out the rubber washers. I call it the
"Goomie ligature" because rubber is "goomie" in Hebrew. So far I have
found two different goomies that work well. I have three of my students
testing them, and it seems to give the right amount of damping and the
sound is well terrific!

If anyone is interested in trying out the goomies, I will send them to
you for the price of postage from Israel.

Happy Squaking!
