In my recent prowl through the music stacks of the Evanston Public Library, I
came across a very interesting little book.

It is titled "The Amateur Wind Instrument Maker" by a gentleman named Trevor
Robinson.

It contains instructions on making all sorts of antique woodwind instruments,
including recorders, shawms, krummhorns, ........and a Denner style clarinet,
complete with two keys (you get throat Bb, or B natural, but not both).

I am somehow intrigued with the possibility of making such a clarinet,
possibly from coco-bolo, or rosewood (boxwood, if I could even get it, would
probably warp devastatingly in this yucky Chicago climate).

My question is: is there anyone on the list who has done this, or anything
similar? I would love to correspond........
