This is not teaching. This is indoctrination. A person who thinks this way
believes that his/her way is the best way and anything else is wrong. cf.
Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin. A good teacher is much more open. It is defunct
educational theory that a child is an empty jug waiting to be filled.

I had no problem. The first teacher I contacted welcomed me as an adult
amateur student. Yes, I do challenge him from time to time. For example, I
did not accept his insistence that the mouthpiece that came with my
bottom-of-the-range Bundy is the best one for a beginner. He has just lent
me a damaged Vandoren 5JB (chipped rail) with which I can produce a much
better sound with much less effort than on the Bundy mouthpiece. He is good
as a teacher because we have a mutual respect and listen to each other.

BTW: as soon as I get some money matters sorted out satisfactorily, I will
be seriously seeking a better mouthpiece as per advice received from list
members.
