It bugs him, too. Crooked teeth. He certainly does exploit it for effect,
though.

David Sanborn also sticks the mouthpiece in at an angle. His rather odd
posture whilst playing is due to physical limitations -- he suffered from
polio as a child. I read in an interview that he was both surprised and
depressed by students that emulated his posture. He recognized that the
students were not mocking him -- most folks don't know of his medical
history -- but the idol worship struck him as both silly and sad.
