Several have commented in various threads that the best way to find a good
teacher is to ask around. It occurs to me the best place to start is here.
Can anyone recommend teachers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?
I am just picking up the clarinet again after a long (19) year break. I
played all the way through middle and high school in both marching and
concert bands. I was never a first-chair player, but usually placed in the
first 4 or 5 in fairly large bands.
I recently purchased a new LeBlanc Noblet 40, as my old band clarinet
(Selmer Signet) dissappeared under misterious circumstances many years ago.
I was very surprised how much I had retained, but I can tell I need a lot of
work to get the fundementals back.
I also have some rather unusual goals--for the last 4 years I have played
doumbec (a small hand drum) with a loosely organized midddle-eastern band.
This has re-awakened my love of making music (odd time signatures are a
hoot!). As I regain my skills, I would like to bring the clarinet into the
band, as we are rather short on melodic instruments.
Thanks!
