When I was in grade school, all the third graders were marched into the
gym, where we tried out mouthpieces (and I don't remember Sanimist or its
equivalent. . .). I had a severe overbite, hence, I was destined to
become a clarinet player.

One of my earliest music memories is sitting on that same gym floor with
all the other first graders, watching a concert and wondering how all
those kids who played the clarinet got their fingers to move
simultaneously!
