Tonguing speed is definately a problem with this exerpt, but what is more a
problem I found was the sixteenth rest before each measure. In the orchestra
I play in, the first bassoonist played the passage as if the first note was
the downbeat and played behind the beat to make it fit -- or at least he
THOUGHT it fit. What a mess.

It would be interesting to know how many folks on this list single tongue
this passage as opposed to double. I didn't think it was that difficult,
although the conductor might have taken the tempo a little slower than others.

In a message Ann Saterfield wrote:

Also on the program is Saint Saens Sym.3 which is a good test of double
tongue technique in first movement. It is working well, except that i
get tense or tired after 6-8 measures. But 8 years ago morethan one
measure was a struggle.
