On a Lighter note

This appeared in the Royal Conservatory's bulletin.

One day, the orchestra's conductor got seriously ill and no replacement
conductor was available. Two hours to the concert, the concertmaster was
desperate.
Finally one of the viola players volunteered.
To everyone's amazement, the concert went off without a hitch, and the
orchestra sounded great.

For the upcoming tour, the viola player was asked to take over. The
orchestra got rave reviews and they had their most successful tour yet.

But at the end of the tour, the viola player asked to go back and play
in the section.
Reluctantly the concertmaster agreed. The viola player went back to his
seat.
His stand partner turned to him and asked,
"Where the heck have YOU been?"
