I was the person who started the negative talk about Morgan MP's. The two
Ralph sent me were digaceful. It's perfectly obvious that nobody had ever
play tested those MP's. It's also perfectly obvious that nearly every MP
sold is not play tested. The variation between one B45 and another B45, or
one HS* and another HS* can be enormous. Why else do you have to go thru a
whole pile to find a good one?

I have measured lots of MP facings and interiors and it would appear that
the vast majority are made with a good deal of care and precision. However,
when you put a reed on one MP and it plays beautifully and that same reed on
an identical MP plays miserablely you realise that nobody has ever play
tested these things. A real MP maker has to be a clarinetist, and he has to
be willing and able to make those subtle, almost unmeasurable adjustments
that make the difference between a dud and keeper.

different playing situations, I can't tell.>>

venues. I played on one mouthpiece recently, that I loved at home, got rave
comments about at a chamber rehearsal, and (to me) sounded like crap in a
large concert hall~!!!!!!

negative comments about Morgan mouthpieces. I have never played on them
myself, but I have heard many, many good things about them. It's a pity to
disparage a man's life work like this. (the power of the internet in
situations like this is frightening)

dislike when I use my Moennig barrel. When I use the old fairly cylindrical
barrel that came with my Buffet, it SINGS.

equipment it was never designed to be used with?

fairer evaluation might be considered.

drive, energy, ambition, AND talent. Also, to me, Kenny G. is presenting a
Commercial product, not an artisitc product. I'm sure he can play the
Creston ..but who's gonna play that on the weather channel?
