David B. Niethamer noted:

<<<When I was barely old enough to drink it, Schmidt's was the worst - based
in Philly, but bottled in Reading from Schulkyl River water - 99 44/100 %
sewage sludge. Gee, wonder why they went out of business!>>>

I'm afraid that I have some very, very bad news. If this is the same
"Schmit's" beer that typically has a forest scene on the label, it is STILL
for sale here in Washington. It is, without doubt, one of the least
expensive beers in our market, and therefore consumed in quantity by college
students.

Because of the woodland scene on the label, it is referred to affectionately
as "animal beer."

While animal by-products are not listed on the label as ingredients, urban
legend abounds.
