The Selmer reed cases are nice. I have one for my bass. The Vandorens
work, but the glass plate thing in the Selmer is much better for keeping
the reed nice and flat. I gather Harrisons and Wiseman reed cases work
much the same way. I don't need a glove leather case, thank you:-).
As for the business going to hell after the founder dies...the guy who
runs Rod Baltimore on 48th Street once told me he used to be able to get
inexpensive but excellent foam-core instrument cases from some
manufacturer in Brooklyn. Then the guy who ran the place died and it
passed to his son. The son spent the money intended for the business on
shoving the Peruvian GNP up his nose, and the place went under.
