I have used both the EZO and the florist's tape described by Shouryu. (I
don't have braces, but sharp irregular lower teeth).

The problem with both of these "solutions" is that the device has a very
short life span -- even with minimal use, you'll be making another one in a
few weeks.

If you dredge up the archives, you'll see my description of a plastic
(silicone?) device that I had my dentist make for me. He charged me
approximately $40, which was probably robbery -- but it has lasted for 11
years now. A little brushing w/ toothpaste once in a while and it's like
new. I suspect that my teeth will wear out before it does.

Apparently you can make the same thing yourself by boiling up a sports mouth
guard, available at most jock shops. Even cheaper. Because of the
do-it-once factor, a bargain I think.
