I have been in the studio too long... It seems interesting to hear this
because the Pro cd decks don't cost much more than consumer ones. After 50
CDs or so, you'd make up the price difference (and would have a much better
quality burner).

As for CDs that will only play in CD players... It will be a cold day in
hell when that happens. As for DVD audio (NOT on CDs), that is a whole
different matter. They have held up the release of the players because one
of the companies in the DVD-Audio Consortium came up with a better
encryption algorithm. yes, it will probably be cracked soon by those who
want to, but it will keep the causal pirate out of business. Heck, the gear
will be readily available, because the Pro engineers can't be dealing with
copy protection until it goes out to the public. SCMS (Serial Copy
Management System) was used for DAT and CD. Almost instantly, it was
antiquated as people figured out ways to strip it off recordings. Now,
almost no DAT players have it implemented.

If you want to copy your CD, there are so many computer based programs that
you can use that do a fine job (and are really cheap), there is not much
need for a double CD deck.
