Tony,
I wonder if you could explain the notion of "drifting", and why the
fingering you suggest is advantageous over other fingerings with respect to
D" in Baermann's Adagio. I had assumed that by drifting you meant a
smooth, floating transition in bar 8 from the D" to the adjacent C".
Notwithstanding the issue of relative pitch, I found the effect somewhat
compromised by the D" fingering you indicated, although this may have been a
function of my inability to readily switch from the usual fingering. Would
welcome your comment.
