High D on many clarinets is flat when fingered R/T-023-400. If the G#/D#
(Ab/Eb) is opened it becomes somewhat sharp. Half-holing the first
finger can both improve making the transition into the third register
and will also lower the D to about the right pitch.

High E natural is quite sharp when fingered R/T-023-000. Again,
half-holing the first finger will lower its pitch. The G#/D# should be
returned to the closed position since E is already sharp and having the
G# key open will make it sharper still.

The high F can be slightly flat when fingered R/T-023C#. Reopening the
G#/D# will raise the pitch a bit.

The half-holing done on D and E should be returned to a fully open
position for F and F#.

Try playing C, D, E and F with the above fingerings: half-hole on D and
E but off for F, G# key open for D, but closed for E and opened again
for F.

While many fine clarinets don't need this doctoring, some do. If your
instrument has a bad pitch relationship between C, D and E, you might
give it a try.
