I know a few of you out there think I'm pretty whacked-out!

Well, today, I PROVED it.

I made a bass clarinet reed by hand! Gad, it took forever.

It started out innocently, but I'll put the blame on David Niethamer. As I
mentioned a week or so ago, I have a few tubes of really old cane. Niethamer
has persuaded us ALL that making your own reed blanks is to be greatly
preferred to making them.

I had a little time on my hands and decided to make up some blanks.

Well, after I split one of my tubes, the sections looked big enough for a
bass clarinet reed. Well, a challenge IS a challenge, and three hours later I
emerged with a reed that looks suspiciously like a Vandoren B. Cl reed, but
with no LOGO!

I obeyed my own rules, and after I got it to vibrate, I put it away for a
day, before final voicing.

Tell ya, I could have really used a ReeDual, thought I would sand and file
forever!!!!!

I'll let you all know how the reed turned out. That is, if anyone cares!!!!
