If your band is going to assume responsibility for packing, I wouldn't worry
about it. The change in temperature won't be drastic enough and quick
enough to make much of a difference. I have had my horns travel from
Rochester, NY to Kansas City, MO in early march on a truck. They got REALLY
cold and survived just fine. The trick is to not let them warm up too
quickly. Don't blow into that really cold horn.

How many of your performances are inside and how many are outside. I would
never march with a good wood horn, even if the weather is perfect. Do you
have backup wood instrument or a decent plastic one? Is it possible to
bring 2 instruments. One good one for indoor performances and one for
outside?
Most of my personal problems with horns have been in dry climates. Mine
love it when there is high humidity. They never work better.
